BASEBALL ROOM

The Baseball Room is a showcase for the baseball history of Independence. Independence was the sight of the first night game in the history of Organized Baseball, and one of the original lights used is on display here.

You will find photos of the historic night game here, along with Independence baseball team photos dating back to 1896.

Baseball equipment on display includes a wood bat used by Independence Producer Les King in 1924, and a KOM League baseball that was hit out of Shulthis Stadium by Mickey Mantle in 1949. Plan on spending at least an hour visiting this room
